How to Pack for Vacation: Part 3 - OPI Wipe-Off! Lacquer Remover Wipes Review

Description of Photo

Today I'm going to be wrapping up the How to Pack for Vacation mini-series with a review of OPI's Wipe-Off! Lacquer Remover Wipes. We all know that whilst on vacation, there is a very high likelihood of our manicures getting chipped. If you're like me, I don't have much time to be touching up my manicure when there's so much to see and do on vacation already. For the on-the-go girl, these wipes are a lifesaver!

How to Pack for Vacation: Part 2 - One Pair Fits All

Description of Photo

Description of Photo

Hey guys! Today's post is all about choosing heels that are interchangeable for multiple outfits when travelling. Airlines place a lot of restrictions on what we can and cannot bring nowadays, so I find that bringing the least amount of things possible is always the best way to travel. It's no fun hauling around 7 pairs of shoes for a week long vacation! Yes, I would like to bring multiple pairs of shoes and matching accessories for the different outfits I pack, but sometimes it just isn't possible.

It may surprise you how many pairs of shoes I brought to Phoenix. Can you guess? One. One pair of shoes was all that I needed for my weeklong stay!

Back to School: Nerdy Organic Chemistry Nail Art

China Glaze | Bottoms Up, Too Yacht To Handle, Highlight Of My Summer, Neon & On & On

Back to school season is here!

What better way to go back than with some festive nail art? This year, I have to take organic chemistry so here's a fun design for all you science nerds out there! I realize that they are not the most accurate representations of the chemicals I chose, but I couldn't fit every detail on my nail beds. Ladies with longer nails, you could definitely include more detail and accuracy within your designs.

For this design, I painted a base of 4 In The Morning from OPI's Gwen Stefani Collection. This lacquer dries to a matte/satin finish, which is perfect for recreating a 'chalkboard' look. I then took a detailing brush from this Born Pretty Set to draw on the molecules. The subscripts were actually the hardest to draw on!

If chemistry isn't your thing, you could definitely change this design to math, letters or even doodles! This can also be recreated with a variety of different colour combinations. If you don't want the molecules to be shiny, finish off with a coat of matte topcoat.

Good luck to all my readers going back to school!

How to Pack for Vacation: Part 1 - Airport Comfort

Description of Photo

Description of Photo

I was in Phoenix for the past week so I thought I would document and comment on the outfits I packed. In this mini series, I'll be sharing some tips and tricks on how to pack for travel. Whether it be a summer vacation in the Bahamas, or a winter vacation in New York, these tips are applicable year round.

The first step for any trip is transportation. I think we would all agree that sitting stationary for hours on an airplane or in the car is not the most enjoyable part of travel. When travelling, I like to be as comfortable (yet fashionable) as possible. Yes, the desire to throw on sweats and call it a day is strong, but there are tons of comfy options to explore as well!

Bright Abstract Florals (feat. Guest Nail Artist Liz)

It's fun to be pampered once in a while! These gorgeous floral nails were painted by my friend Liz during one of our girls' nights in. We loved this design by Wondrously Polished and decided to recreate the look on each other. This was Liz's take on the design - a vibrant abstract floral on navy base. Though intricate, it looks harder than it really is and can be done with toothpicks and some patience. My favourite thing about this look is how great the colours pop on a dark background.

I've got mixed feelings about school because after a 4 month long break, my brain has turned to mush. As you guys know, I'm from Calgary but go to school in Waterloo so I'm excited to see my friends in September. However, this year's course load is tough so I'm not sure if I'll ever be ready enough for that!

I first saw this awesome nail art design on All Lacquered Up and had to recreate it for myself. I did the striping a little differently though, so keep reading for a pictorial!

Neon Daisies Nail Art for Chasing Summer 2014

Description of Photo

The best music with the best people made this past weekend one of the best weekends of my life.

Chasing Summer is an electronic dance music festival that comes around once a year to Calgary featuring some of the biggest names in the industry. This year, Tiesto and Hardwell headlined alongside Dannic, Sander van Doorn, Cash Cash, and 3LAU.

As with any outdoors music festival, festival fashion is a big deal! Unfortunately, I didn't get any full body outfit shots, but today I'm showing you the nail art that I sported. These events are all about the neon so I started off with a base of China Glaze's Bottoms Up and painted on little daisies using Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear White On and Orly's Glowstick. I LOVE how the colours complimented each other perfectly and gave a very cute and vibrant look.

I used a toothpick to create the white petals and neon yellow centres of the daisies. Finishing off with a coat of Seche Vite, my nails were festival ready! This was a very easy design and can be done with any combination of colours.
